A practical guide
Small business website cost in the US: what’s included and what costs extra?
Compare a website quote by its agreed pages, deliverables, ownership and ongoing obligations. Newzchain Studio’s US launch package starts at $899; that is our offer, not a claimed US market average.
Start with the scope, not just the price
A three-page informational website and an application with accounts, booking or payments are different projects. Ask what the quoted amount buys and which services remain payable after launch. A lower upfront figure does not tell you the total commitment, and a higher figure does not establish that you need the extra scope.
For a small business, write down the pages, content responsibilities, enquiry journey and ownership terms before comparing proposals. Check whether revisions, migration, hosting and handover are included.
What Studio’s $899 launch includes
The defined offer covers up to three agreed informational pages, mobile-first design and development, two revision rounds and three months of managed hosting. The agreed scope can include services/service-area content, click-to-call, a quote or appointment enquiry form, domain connection and SSL, and basic local SEO setup.
You supply approved business facts, content and assets. The first working draft is within three business days after all prerequisites and kickoff payment are complete. Launch-ready in as little as five business days depends on timely feedback. The written project scope determines the deliverables.
Separate the website from the services around it
Ask for a line item when a feature changes the project from information and enquiries to transactions or software. Do not assume an enquiry form includes a calendar reservation or an online payment flow.
| Item | How to evaluate the cost |
|---|---|
| Additional pages or content writing | Agree page count, content supply and revision responsibilities. |
| Domain registration and renewal | Check the registrar’s current rate and keep the account in your control. |
| Business email | Optional setup is eligibility-checked. Provider plans and charges vary. |
| Hosting after three included months | Agree a continuation or handover plan; no automatic paid care enrollment. |
| Booking, payments or accounts | Separate scope, integrations and provider fees. |
| CRM connections, automation or a portal | Separate discovery, implementation and operating budget. |
A transparent example using Studio’s prices
Assume the project fits the $899 launch scope and you choose one annual Website Care plan at $499 after the included hosting period. The combined commitment for those two purchases is $899 + $499 = $1,398. This is not a first-year market estimate: the care start date and coverage must be agreed.
The same example excludes domain renewal, email subscriptions, additional pages, transaction fees and custom software. If you choose monthly care instead, it is $49 per agreed month. Annual and monthly care are alternatives, not charges to add together.
| Purchase | Amount |
|---|---|
| Agreed website launch | $899 |
| Optional annual Website Care | $499 |
| Combined purchases under these assumptions | $1,398 |
Compare ownership and ongoing obligations
Studio’s custom deliverables transfer after full payment, subject to third-party licences. Ask how you receive the code, assets and access, which accounts you control, and what help is included in a hosting handover.
A managed platform may suit a business that wants its provider to handle more of the infrastructure. A custom build may suit one that values code ownership or needs an agreed custom journey. Compare export options, maintenance effort, provider dependency and recurring costs against your needs.
Questions to ask before agreeing a quote
Use these questions to turn a headline price into a reviewable scope.
- Which pages and features are included, and who supplies the copy?
- How many revisions are included and what counts as a scope change?
- What must be ready before the delivery clock starts?
- Which accounts and deliverables do I own after payment?
- What happens when included hosting ends?
- Which third-party charges and ongoing support are outside the price?
